In a second floor warehouse studio located in Portland’s Central Eastside Industrial District the Portland Leather Goods team is comprised of twenty employees designing, sourcing, cutting and sewing hundreds of items every week, each customized to order.
Before being delivered, your products will have been touched by many people; one of these talented artisans is Kristle, who may have been the one to create your journal strap or cut your tote. As a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising at San Francisco, her passion and true talent lies in product development.
"I love it here," she said. "What's not to love? I love everyone here."
Kristle joined the PLG team in August, coming to us as a dress designer from Old Navy. Part of the reason she was interested in the position was the opportunity for her to try working with a new medium, which she has enjoyed and excelled at. As a key member of the design team, Kristle created the “Everyday Tote,” and the wrap wallet.Several other new item designs are being readied for production.
However, the most exciting creation in the studio is the fact that Kristle is expecting her first child!
"Kristle makes people happy. She comes in with a smile and keeps it all day long," said owner Curtis Matsko.
Kristle is originally from the Bay Area of California and currently resides in Northeast Portland with her husband, Justin. In her free time, Kristle designs modeling aprons, binges Netflix and cuddles with her cat, Jimmy Jimbo.
