The Leather
Our U.S.-sourced oil tanned leather is incredibly easy to care for. With time and use, the natural oils in the leather will rise to the surface, developing a beautiful patina and smoothing any scuffs or scratches that may have accumulated. Learn more about caring for your new leather product.
Our full-grain leather is the strongest and most durable available, and the unique texture and natural imperfections from the cow’s life have not been sanded, cut or shaved off. Full-grain is SIX times stronger than Buffed, Upholstery or Genuine leather.
Please note that our pebbled leather, like all of our leather, is a natural product. You may notice changes in grain or texture throughout your bag. Other companies artificially press a pebble texture into their leather. However, the pebbling of our leather is achieved naturally through an extra tumbling process which leaves some areas of the hide smoother than others.

I dont know what to say about this except it was exceptionally nice! The Leather was soft, smooth and perfect. It has 2 card pockets on both sides, and a coin Pocket in the middle, which was a nice surprise. I bought for my son and I want to get myself one.
The Patina Card Holder is my third item purchased from Portland, and while it doesn’t have the same leather thickness as the two bifold wallets I’ve purchased (in Canyon and Cognac), I’m assuming that’s how they keep it ‘front pocket’ thin! The card holder is really all the wallet I need for EDE - medical insurance card, driver’s license, bank card and work ID fill the four card slots with room to spare if needed, with a middle slot to hold 6-10 bills without too much bulk…and who uses bills anymore (me)?
What I’m really excited about is the leather. The Dakota leather and shade used for this minimalist piece is like nothing else I have. It feels like nubuck, with not quite as much nap as suede. It changes color with a brush of your hand or finger across the surface, much like suede. I am trying to decide if I want to condition it, put a waterproof spray on it, or just let it patina through oily hands, jean pockets and the usual bumps and bruises. I think that this will wind up looking a lot like waxed suede after a while. I’m looking forward to it keeping a rustic, rugged look.
I’ll update my review after a few months to see how it ages! If you need a well made minimalist piece with quality materials and insane value, the new Patina Card Holder in Dakota is an easy choice.
My plan to bring the husband over to the dark side is working… I bought him this card holder for his birthday, as he was desperately in need of a new wallet. He never carries a full folding wallet, so I was pleased to see this offered by PLG! It’s the perfect size for his cards and license, and best part, he loved it! (I did make him smell the leather too, which he appreciated). Another great purchase from Portland Leather!
Perfect size to carry a few cards in a smaller purse!
I think I'm going to end up with several colors of this little guy. It's love!
I love how there’s 2 cards on each side & plenty of space in the middle for bills. I wish the pictures showed the size of the middle split. But it’s definitely small & mighty! Using it in my bumbag.
