Our durable leather goods are unlined, featuring the natural suede side of the hide. Since fabric-lined bags inevitably discolor and tear with use, we chose to showcase the soft sueded underside of our hides, ensuring that your bag lasts a lifetime.
Because leather is a natural material, slight color and batch variations are normal. Factors like hide age, season, and dye absorption can all affect the final shade—making each piece uniquely yours.
SMALL: Great for those that travel light on the daily – it can fit a water bottle, snacks, book, wallet, and sunglasses comfortably. Measures 11” wide across the bottom, 13” wide across the top, 4.5” deep and 11.5” tall.
MEDIUM: Can fit a water bottle, snacks, a book, wallet, sunglasses and a 13” Macbook snugly. Measured 11.5” wide across the bottom, 15” wide across the top, 5.5” deep, and 12” tall.
LARGE: Fits a water bottle, snacks, book, wallet, sunglasses, back-up shirt, and a 15” Macbook snugly. Measures 13” wide across the bottom, 18” wide across the top, 6” deep, and 12” tall.
OVERSIZED: Fits all that plus a pair of jeans and a larger laptop comfortably. Measures 14” wide across the bottom, 21” wide across the top, 6” deep, and 13” tall.
The drop length for all of our handles is 10.5” regardless of the size of the tote, and suits most!

INSIDE & OUTSIDE POCKET: All totes have an inside pocket that measures approximately 6” x 8” – great for a smartphone and some lip balm, as well as an outside pocket for easy storage.
KEY LOOP: A standard feature of all totes – no more digging around for your keys!
FULL-GRAIN LEATHER: Our leather is the highest quality full-grain chap and English bridle leather available. We only use hides as a byproduct of the beef industry, we like to think that we're helping to minimize waste by using hides that may otherwise be wasted. This kind of leather will never look flawless, as it hasn't been covered in any kind of plastic coating. Don’t worry about keeping the tote perfect - the best part about 100% full-grain leather is that it just gets better with age.
UNLINED AND OPEN INTERIOR: Our Tote Bags are unlined, featuring the natural suede underside of the leather on the inside. We use full-grain, oil-tanned leather that is incredibly durable and water tight – it's the same quality of leather that is used in making boots, saddles, and all manner of made-to-last, all-weather leather goods!

This is my first PLG purchase, and I am simply stunned by the thickness, quality, color, and smell of the leather - pictures don't do it justice!! This is the small zippered tote in honey. I am a tiny individual (4'11" with short little t-rex arms lol) and I'm usually not a tote person because I find them to be oversized on me. But the small is perfect for me! I love how PLG offers so many different sizes!!! I took some photos with the tote in case it helps my fellow shorties out there. :)

In case you’re like me, looking at reviews to help make the “right purchase”, here it is. I ordered the Large Tote in Cognac with a zipper hoping for the perfect work bag that could be versatile. The large fits a 13in Mac with LOTS of space around it (I tested my husbands 15in Mac it fits, but won’t zip), a hardcover journal or two, a hydro flask (all sizes- sometimes two, one for water and one for coffee), snack, and electronics bag, plus wallet. My favorite feature is the key hook!! Overall, I’m definitely satisfied with my newest PLG bag, worth the purchase!
Lava is amazing

I got the OS tote with a zipper in Lava. Let me tell you, as pretty as you might think Lava is in the pictures, it's even prettier in person. I can tell this bag is going to age well. The OS tote holds my 16" MBP laptop (something I've been searching for for a long time), PLUS everything else I could need for a day away (for scale, in the interior image, the purse is a mini crossbody and what I believe an eclipse makeup bag). This leather is not slouchy but it isn't so stiff it feels plastic. I can see this will be a good travel bag. The handle drop is the perfect length for over the shoulder and (as a taller person), holding in my hands and not skimming the ground. As much as I love this bag, it's not an every day bag and probably isn't for everyone. I'm tall so the size is fine, but I could see it overwhelming someone shorter or petite. The handles are stiff and the edges could use a slight bevel. I'm hoping they will round out a little as I use the bag. And its a lot of leather which means this bag isn't light even before adding my laptop, purse and water bottle. While I will use it as I travel, it will not be an out-and-about sightseeing bag; it will be my to the airport to the hotel to the airport bag.

This is my 3rd PLG purchase within 4 months. I now have 2 Leather totes and 1 Lola tote in Jacaranda. This is my 2nd Leather Tote in Medium in the Mango color. My 1st is in Lava. These totes are real workhorses! The leather quality is strong and durable but not heavy. It’s a comfortable carry for me and the Mango color is stunning! I have my eye on Orchid and Meadow next and possibly Surf. I am eyeing the Circle bag also. These bags are addicting lol. The reviews/comments and Facebook following are fun, entertaining and helpful. Treat yourself 😀
My large, cobalt, zip tote is beautiful! The leather is very soft. The color is what I expected and the pebbles on the leather are beautiful.
I ordered this classic (Limited Edition) tote in small. The cobalt leather is stunning! The size is perfect for me; plenty big enough for everything I need/want to carry, but not so large that it weighs me down! Portland Leather Goods prices their products so they are affordable, and the quality is top notch. Hmmm... what color do I want next?!
I have become a great fan of a this buttery smooth zip tote!
I absolutely love the large zipper totes for work! It fits my 15” laptop perfectly, and I use a large eclipse or utility bag for the cords. This orchid color is gorgeous! Pebbly, the zipper slides so smooth, and it’s squishier than my first large tote in Surf.
My one and only complaint is that within a few hours of being in love with my bag, I got to work and never had one marker/pen in sight prior to the moment that I noticed three fairly noticeable dark/black single lines on the outside. This was a premium bag, and the lines look like ink and there was no moment before I noticed the marks that any writing utensils would have come close to the tote. I tried to clean gently with what I could without causing further damage, but no help. So, I just assumed these were character marks, and I love it to much to return, but it is unfortunate that I was hoping for a fairly pristine bag, and these marks man made or natural, look obvious and dark like ballpoint pen ink line that’s fairly big. My photo doesn’t show the marks (happy to include for customer service if they reach out).
