Our durable leather goods are unlined, featuring the natural suede side of the hide. Because leather is a natural material, slight color and batch variations are normal. Factors like hide age, season, and dye absorption can all affect the final shade, making each piece uniquely yours.
Our leather is incredibly easy to care for. With time and use, the natural oils in the leather will rise to the surface, developing a beautiful patina and smoothing any scuffs or scratches that may have accumulated. Learn more about caring for your new leather product.
Full Grain: Meticulously sourced from the finest hides, this premium material boasts unique textures and character, showcasing nature's artistry at its best. As time passes, watch as its surface develops a unique patina, telling your personal journey through the years. Unlike processed leathers, full grain leather stands the test of time, due to its unmatched strength and resilience. Its dense fibers offer exceptional resistance to wear, cuts, and moisture, our full grain leather ensures lasting beauty that only gets better with age.
Top Grain: Top-grain starts from the same premium zone of the hide but is lightly sanded and finished for a more uniform surface. That light correction softens and evens the face while keeping most of the strength you want. Takes pigment and protective finishes beautifully, which helps with colorfastness and stain resistance. Ages gracefully, especially when we keep the finish thin enough to let the leather breathe and break in.
We use top-grain when a smoother cosmetic is the goal—think color consistency across large panels—without walking away from the core strength you expect from a Portland bag.
Pebbled: Unlike most brands that use artificial stamping methods to create patterns, our pebbled leather is achieved through a natural tumbling process. The distinctive raised, pebble-shaped texture adds sophistication and makes a bold statement wherever you go. But it's not just about looks—pebbled leather is built to last. Worried about daily wear and tear? Don’t be! The unique pebbled surface ages gracefully, developing a natural patina that will evolve for years to come!
Suede: Our suede leather begins with an intricate process: the hide is split to separate the soft underside from the top layer. This top layer is then tanned, buffed, sanded, and dyed to create the signature velvety texture that defines high-quality suede. Naturally slouchy and pliable, suede leather ages gracefully, developing a rich patina that tells its own story over time. Most natural imperfections are gently smoothed away during production, while subtle traces—like healed veining and the soft, napped surface—are preserved to celebrate the leather’s unique character and charm.
Because leather is a natural material, slight color and batch variations are normal. Factors like hide age, season, and dye absorption can all affect the final shade—making each piece uniquely yours.

The Aspen shoulder bag
by: Beth C.
The Aspen is my all time favorite!
Amazing quality
by: Customer
I absolutely love this bag! This is one of the bags that got me started. I’m obsessed with the quality and durability of these bags. I will continue to buy more.
Fun & Fabulous Beigeteroid Aspen!
by: Carrie J.
I was able to get this fabulous Beigeteroid Aspen at the Seattle store. I love the Aspen, it holds so much and is comfortable to carry. I was ecstatic to get in this fun and classy color! I hope PLG brings out more in this color! I would love some matching littles!
Perfect everyday bag!
by: Jessica P.
This is the perfect size bag! It’s large enough to hold everything you need for an everyday carry without feeling overwhelming. I got mine in Sienna, and the color is so beautiful. The leather is pebbly, super soft, and squishy, and I know it’s only going to get better with time. My only complaint is the zipper. It gets a little stuck every now and then, but otherwise I absolutely love this bag!
My ideal purse
by: Jenn
This is my second purchase from PLG and it is so far my favorite! The medium Aspen in plum is my perfect bag: fits plenty, zips nicely, stays on my shoulder with the adjustable strap, and the leather is so pebbly and soft. I use one of the canvas organizers since there are no pockets in this bag and it helps so much. I plan to pick up another Aspen in Sienna! Debating on trying the large next time. The medium is great for everyday errands and work, but would not be a good laptop bag.
I loved this bag it is really original
by: Sheila R.
I loved this bag it is really original, an exquisite quality and it is really spacious. I was surprised!!!
The bigger, the better!
by: Jojo
This is the BEST big girl slouchy purse ever and I love how soft and malleable it becomes with regular wear and tear!
Beautiful soft and comfy
by: Megan W.
Such a beauty and the perfect color for all seasons. I’m forever a fan! Zipper is smooth as butter.
Love both sizes!!
by: Sandra D.
I have the medium in pebbled black and large in sea glass Aspen bags. I love them both. I do find the medium carries more like a shoulder bag and the large carries more like a tote. They both are so comfortable to carry. I like that they have adjustable straps. The zipper is very smooth and doesn’t get hung up. They both are very spacious. There is no pockets which doesn’t bother me but I know that’s a deal breaker for some. This is a bag I definitely would buy in more colors. I just love the shape and how comfortable it is.
SUNSHINE medium Aspen
by: Mary W.
Absolutely love the medium size Aspen! The zipper glides with just one hand. You can see deep into the bag for anything your are looking for. I wasn’t sure about the colorSUNSHINE when I opened it and almost returned it to the Columbus store. But when I saw the eyes light up of the sales staff, I knew she truly was a stunning color and ended up keeping it. lol.The shoulder strap on the Aspen is perfect. Half the time I don’t realize it’s even on my shoulder. Don’t delay if you are on the fence about the Aspen and the color SUNSHINE.
Sienna Aspen is Love 💛
by: Jennifer L.
I love almost all PLG bags, but medium Aspen is probably my favorite! This was my third medium Aspen to purchase and it’s once again love. Sienna is a beautifully bright neutral.
Love the quality n size of my bag
by: Jharna V.
Love the quality n size of my bag… and color is also just too pretty… great for everyday use… highly recommended
Perfectly perfect!
by: Terrie H.
I have the medium Aspen in cold brew and absolutely love it. Its simple design makes it a go to bag for any outfit. And its spacious interior easily accommodates everything I carry. I included a photo from a recent trip. The water bottle actually fits in this bag with my kindle, phone, large bifold wallet and several other items. I can zip the bag closed with the bottle fully inside.
Perfect Slouch
by: Gianna P.
In love with this bag! Tried out a new color as well, and it’s the cutest thing. Love the slouch, the smell of the leather and everything. However, I recommend getting a purse organizer because the leather will dye the things you put inside. Other than that, no complaints! :)
Very pleased!
by: Mimi M.
4.5 rounded up because I love everything - the color, the large size, the feel of the leather, it isn’t too pebbled and I like that it shows a little “wear and tear grit” But not so much I have to worry about it staying “pristine”. The only think I would change is I would add one interior pocket.
Perfection!

Just love my new Sunshine L Aspen! 💛
I’m usually a structured, firm leather crossbody gal, but I absolutely love the colour yellow. This bag has the perfect combination of a beautiful colour and a relaxed, slouchy leather.
Sometimes, it’s nice to step outside your usual style and try something different. The Sunshine L Aspen has definitely won me over!
Sunshine yellow and slouchy leather go hand in hand. 💛
