Pebbled: Unlike most brands that use artificial stamping methods to create patterns, our pebbled leather is achieved through a natural tumbling process. The distinctive raised, pebble-shaped texture adds sophistication and makes a bold statement wherever you go. But it's not just about looks—pebbled leather is built to last. Worried about daily wear and tear? Don’t be! The unique pebbled surface ages gracefully, developing a natural patina that will evolve for years to come!

Suede: Our suede leather begins with an intricate process: the hide is split to separate the soft underside from the top layer. This top layer is then tanned, buffed, sanded, and dyed to create the signature velvety texture that defines high-quality suede. Naturally slouchy and pliable, suede leather ages gracefully, developing a rich patina that tells its own story over time. Most natural imperfections are gently smoothed away during production, while subtle traces—like healed veining and the soft, napped surface—are preserved to celebrate the leather’s unique character and charm.

Our durable leather goods are unlined, featuring the natural suede side of the hide. Since fabric-lined bags inevitably discolor and tear with use, we chose to showcase the soft sueded underside of our hides, ensuring that your bag lasts a lifetime.

Ultra Violet Rue Convertible Backpack

I love my beautiful Ultra Violet Rue Convertible Backpack! The metallic plum color is elegant, tasteful, uplifting, and peaceful. I also like the sleek and graceful shape of Rue, the smart design, high functionality, and versatility. Despite its sleek form, rather compact appearance, and rounded corners, Rue is surprisingly roomy. Main compartment contents are easily viewable and accessible without rummaging around blindly or having to unpack the whole bag. My photos show one example of how much I could fit in Rue’s main compartment: 2 Large PLG Wrap Journals; 1 Medium PLG Wrap Journal; 1 Small PLG Wrap Journal; 1 Large PLG Bifold Wallet; 1 fully-packed PLG Utility Bag; 2 PLG Howler Pouches; 1 pair of alpaca knit gloves or winter scarf; 1 foldable winter hat. And the secure, hidden outer zippered pocket in back is an awesome addition. In that pocket I can fit my alpaca knit gloves and iPhone 15 Pro Max with Otter Symmetry case. Or I can fit my phone plus two Euro Wallets. So far I’ve worn Rue as a Backpack all day on multiple days. I am petite (5’) and medium build (clothing size PS), so straps are always long for me, which is fine and easily resolved. Unlike the Boston Backpack, Rue Convertible Backpack straps are fully adjustable for a variety of body types and personal preferences. (In future I may use an awl to add another strap hole or two). I’ve also spent a day wearing Rue as a Sling Bag by removing one strap and reclasping the other strap diagonally from one side at the top to the opposite side at the low end of the bag. I alternated placement of the bag itself from front to side to back. I love having multiple options in a single Rue! Rue Convertible Backpack is a welcome addition to my other backpacks and sling bags, which I also love—Laptop Backpack, Classic Tote Backpack, Bucket Backpack, Snap Mini Backpack, Sydney Sling Bag, Scarlett Sling Bag, and Koala Sling Bag. I use the different styles regularly according to my need. Each has its special qualities. (And yes, I have been known to happily wear a PLG Backpack and Sling Bag at the same time 😁🥰). Thank you.

Perfect for my 6 year old

I love this compact backpack for my 6 year old. She loves to play school and this is perfect! Very vibrant color.

Pebbled Black Rue

Surprised at how much fits inside this backpack. Originally I gave this bag shade. Now, I want to spotlight it.
1. I love how the zippers glide with ease even when opening it with one hand.
2. The inside capacity is amazing.
3. The zippered pocket is the icing on the cake. It’s a plus for those of us needing that extra security from pickpockets.
4. Pebbled black looks great dressed up and down.
5. Although the straps are way too long, there is a work around without having to cut them or change the straps. Check out PLG Insiders on Facebook and do a search to learn how.

Convertible Backpack = Backpack Convert!!

Okay, I am *not* a backpack purse person, at all. That is, not until this one came out. The fact I can configure the straps in so many ways -- regular backpack (easy on/easy off), criss-cross backpack straps (easy on, not so easy off), sling bag (one strap, easy on, easy off), or crossbody (one strap, easy on, easy off) -- is fabulous. The bag holds more than my mini Crossbody, but a little less than my large koala, I think, although it feels much more secure and is configured differently. The zip pocket on the back of the bag is a *very* nice touch! (incidentally, the extra strap fits nicely there when not in use). This is a great bag, very comfortable so far in all the ways I've worn it, and holds a ton.

Great bag but straps are long!

I love the bag! Its spacious soft but not overly huge. Straps are very long. Even in the shortest setting it hangs down to my butt (im 5'4"). Its an easy fix, ive punch a hole in my straps to adjust to my prefered length. Have and will buy again
