Our durable leather goods are unlined, featuring the natural suede side of the hide. Because leather is a natural material, slight color and batch variations are normal. Factors like hide age, season, and dye absorption can all affect the final shade, making each piece uniquely yours.
Our leather is incredibly easy to care for. With time and use, the natural oils in the leather will rise to the surface, developing a beautiful patina and smoothing any scuffs or scratches that may have accumulated. Learn more about caring for your new leather product.
Full Grain: Meticulously sourced from the finest hides, this premium material boasts unique textures and character, showcasing nature's artistry at its best. As time passes, watch as its surface develops a unique patina, telling your personal journey through the years. Unlike processed leathers, full grain leather stands the test of time, due to its unmatched strength and resilience. Its dense fibers offer exceptional resistance to wear, cuts, and moisture, our full grain leather ensures lasting beauty that only gets better with age.
Top Grain: Top-grain starts from the same premium zone of the hide but is lightly sanded and finished for a more uniform surface. That light correction softens and evens the face while keeping most of the strength you want. Takes pigment and protective finishes beautifully, which helps with colorfastness and stain resistance. Ages gracefully, especially when we keep the finish thin enough to let the leather breathe and break in.
We use top-grain when a smoother cosmetic is the goal—think color consistency across large panels—without walking away from the core strength you expect from a Portland bag.
Pebbled: Unlike most brands that use artificial stamping methods to create patterns, our pebbled leather is achieved through a natural tumbling process. The distinctive raised, pebble-shaped texture adds sophistication and makes a bold statement wherever you go. But it's not just about looks—pebbled leather is built to last. Worried about daily wear and tear? Don’t be! The unique pebbled surface ages gracefully, developing a natural patina that will evolve for years to come!
Suede: Our suede leather begins with an intricate process: the hide is split to separate the soft underside from the top layer. This top layer is then tanned, buffed, sanded, and dyed to create the signature velvety texture that defines high-quality suede. Naturally slouchy and pliable, suede leather ages gracefully, developing a rich patina that tells its own story over time. Most natural imperfections are gently smoothed away during production, while subtle traces—like healed veining and the soft, napped surface—are preserved to celebrate the leather’s unique character and charm.
Because leather is a natural material, slight color and batch variations are normal. Factors like hide age, season, and dye absorption can all affect the final shade—making each piece uniquely yours.

No such thing as too much sling!
by: Jen
Love my new chili red Sally sling. My only complaint is that the strap is too long but I’m going to try to mod it so that it will be shorter.
Sally Sling in Asheville

Love my Asheville Sally Sling! This leather is perfect for this bag, helping it hug my body 🤎

This may be my favorite bag. It is gorgeous, casual, and comfortable. It’s its own vibe
Why did I walk out of my first ever PLG brick…..
by: Beth C.
Why did I walk out of my first ever PLG brick and mortar store with a perfect color, perfect everything Sally bag?? Because my bestie tried it on and I loved it so much I had to have one. She passed on it, I didn’t. I love the way it fits (as a crossbody), close but out of the way, the bright metallic blue, the size, the proportions (I’m 5’2“) and, well, I love it so much I HAD to have it! PS. I swear I heard the angels sing when I walked into the Gilbert store! For real!
I love this sling - it holds just a bit more than the Sydney
by: Anne B.
I love this sling - it holds just a bit more than the Sydney, and it still sits close against the body. Very comfortable! I do wish the strap was thicker - it feels flimsy.
Sally Sling bag review
by: Benita B.
The Sally Sling bag looks nothing like the photos online or even the ones shown in the reviews. It does not look or feel real, cheaply made. The zipper doesn’t function properly and won’t go around the corner, which makes it frustrating to use. The exterior looks vinyl backed with a woven fabric, which adds to the low-quality feel. I also purchased another item that was okay, but overall, this experience has been disappointing. For the price, it’s simply not worth it. I will be returning the Sally Sling bag and won’t be purchasing from Portland Leather again.
I adore this sling!
by: Shannon
I adore this sling! I travel a lot and I like to carry a sling when I’m out and about on adventures or in a strange city. But I’m a big bag girl and I need my stuff! This bag is perfect! It holds everything I really need without being too heavy. AND pink is my favorite color and Wild Rose is just dreamy.
Hands Free
by: Freda W.
The perfect hands free bag! I love how much the bag can hold and it’s so comfortable. Coldbrew’s color and slouchiness is simply perfection.
Oh my Sally!
by: Julie B.
Bought this for my daughter. She goes to so many card and vendor shows. Uses her Cdbrew Sally as her everyday carry. So squishy, beautiful, and holds everything she needs. She truly appreciates that it stays out.of her way while shopping. Easy access without being cumbersome, falling into her way.
The bag I didn't know I wanted!
by: Pattie
I'm like you. I saw this and thought "80s butt bag." Not for me. But I was intrigued, and I finally bit the bullet. So glad that I did. I love the way it falls, I love how much it holds, the zipper is perfection. And don't get me started on Wild Rose. I can't wait for everything to come out in this color. This was definitely a pleasant surprise!
What a great sling bag!
by: KristinJS
What a great sling bag! And, the Oatmilk leather is fab! It really holds quite a bit inside. It holds as much as the small Raindrop or Large Monaco, and slightly low than a Medium Koala. The style is a bit more modern and casual than the Koala. It’s quite comfortable, too!
Love my Sally Sling!
by: Jacqui G.
I am in love with my Sally Sling in Plum! I was looking for a bag for daily use and this one had everything on my list. It’s roomy but not bulky, my wallet, keys, phone, and pouch for essentials all fit perfectly. It’s hands free, it’s the perfect every day style for running errands and doing all the things, but it’s stylish! The Plum is the perfect neutral, it goes with everything in my wardrobe. My other PLH bags are in Honey, which I love, but I wanted to switch it up while also staying neutral as that’s my favorite palette. Plum is it! Soooo classy. As always with any PLG product the quality of the material is amazing. And she smells so beautiful! My ONLY negative comment is, when I’m wearing her, I have a hard time seeing inside my bag when I open it up, it fits very close to the body and the shape of it makes it hard to see everything when you open it. But this is not a big deal just slightly annoying. I love all my PLG bags!
Cold Brew is my favourite
by: Alison C.
Cold Brew is my favourite.. the small Sally is so beautiful and functional. I’ve had her a week and she’s already made a trip to New Orleans, perfect for keeping everything important close to me.
