Our durable leather goods are unlined, featuring the natural suede side of the hide. Because leather is a natural material, slight color and batch variations are normal. Factors like hide age, season, and dye absorption can all affect the final shade, making each piece uniquely yours.
Our leather is incredibly easy to care for. With time and use, the natural oils in the leather will rise to the surface, developing a beautiful patina and smoothing any scuffs or scratches that may have accumulated. Learn more about caring for your new leather product.
Full Grain: Meticulously sourced from the finest hides, this premium material boasts unique textures and character, showcasing nature's artistry at its best. As time passes, watch as its surface develops a unique patina, telling your personal journey through the years. Unlike processed leathers, full grain leather stands the test of time, due to its unmatched strength and resilience. Its dense fibers offer exceptional resistance to wear, cuts, and moisture, our full grain leather ensures lasting beauty that only gets better with age.
Top Grain: Top-grain starts from the same premium zone of the hide but is lightly sanded and finished for a more uniform surface. That light correction softens and evens the face while keeping most of the strength you want. Takes pigment and protective finishes beautifully, which helps with colorfastness and stain resistance. Ages gracefully, especially when we keep the finish thin enough to let the leather breathe and break in.
We use top-grain when a smoother cosmetic is the goal—think color consistency across large panels—without walking away from the core strength you expect from a Portland bag.
Pebbled: Unlike most brands that use artificial stamping methods to create patterns, our pebbled leather is achieved through a natural tumbling process. The distinctive raised, pebble-shaped texture adds sophistication and makes a bold statement wherever you go. But it's not just about looks—pebbled leather is built to last. Worried about daily wear and tear? Don’t be! The unique pebbled surface ages gracefully, developing a natural patina that will evolve for years to come!
Suede: Our suede leather begins with an intricate process: the hide is split to separate the soft underside from the top layer. This top layer is then tanned, buffed, sanded, and dyed to create the signature velvety texture that defines high-quality suede. Naturally slouchy and pliable, suede leather ages gracefully, developing a rich patina that tells its own story over time. Most natural imperfections are gently smoothed away during production, while subtle traces—like healed veining and the soft, napped surface—are preserved to celebrate the leather’s unique character and charm.
Because leather is a natural material, slight color and batch variations are normal. Factors like hide age, season, and dye absorption can all affect the final shade—making each piece uniquely yours.

Nice Option for Work
by: Courtney P.
I don’t usually carry bags as large as the Large Rowan, but this is a good option for a work bag. It holds my MacBook Pro with space to spare for other items. The shoulder strap is comfortable, and the strap design allows you to utilize the entire width of the opening even though it appears small.
Beautiful Chili Red Rowan
by: Jennifer B.
I purchased this bag for my Mom for her birthday. She absolutely loves that the Rowan is exclusively a shoulder carry and loves the color. I personally wasn’t crazy about the straps. They’re stiff and unfinished looking. The bag is also on the heavy side so that is also something to consider.
The perfect triangle!
by: Jojo
The Rowan packs a punch and lies flat against the body. I use the small canvas organizer to easily find my essentials.
Don't Take This The Wrong Way Buuuut...
by: Kelli L.
You know when you see an animal so ugly that it's cute? Well that's Rowan. And I love her dearly. When I saw that she was going to be introduced to the PLG line, I was so excited. I'm a petite girl (5'1 & 120 lbs). This this "screams" look at my cool bag. I've already gotten so many compliments on her!!
Good quality

At first I was scared to bug the green one cuz nobody had pictures of it but It’s super cute , the green color is very elegant and the bag is perfect for any outfit . The leather is great quality looks exactly like the picture .
Orchid medium rowan

A very smart bag. Nice and roomy as well.
Simply amazing…
by: Julie H.
I went through a lot to get this bag! I 💜💜💜 the Imperial Rowan. Such a bright, beautiful purple. The Rowan is very comfortable to carry. The medium is the perfect size. Just the perfect bag💜
Great summer handbag 🤍
by: Rebecca 💙.
I do love my new pebbled bone medium Rowan. It is a bit narrower (in depth) than what I usually carry, but I think it looks very sophisticated and it has an outside pocket! Some have questioned the ease of opening it with the top handle, and while it is a bit awkward, it’s not a deal breaker. The pebbled bone is also a great summer color.
Love the size of this!

Love the size of this & the fact it has an outside pocket for your phone!
Rowan Shoulder Bag (medium) in Orchid
by: Amy S.
The Rowan Shoulder Bag is unlike my other bags in that it is fairly large (but not a tote) and is not a crossbody. It has an outside pocket in the back. It has a loop for holding keys, and plenty of room inside, but no other pockets. The shoulder straps are sewn together; maybe one wide strap would be better? The Orchid leather is beautiful, and flexible but not so squishy that it easily flops over. This bag has taken some getting used to, but overall I like it.
The Rowan is my new favorite go to purse
by: Kristy G.
The Rowan is my new favorite go to purse. I adore the look of the purse. Classy and elegant. It holds so much without feeling heavy. The outside pocket is great for holding my cell phone too. Love the look of the flap with the hardware.
The Rowan is classy and has a 70’s vibe

Love my Large Rowan in Asheville. Such a gorgeous bag! I had to order one in red as well.
J
Originally bought one in Bacalar and she was too stiff for me. Snagged this unicorn beauty during a unicorn Wednesday and she’s gorgeous and such a comfortable carry.
S
I love the smaller size of this bag. Very classy!
V
I absolutely love my new Rowan Shoulder Bag!
A
When I stepped into PLG for the very first time, this was the bag my eyes set on immediately. The cold brew is so rich and elegant. I was looking for a suede or leather shoulder bag but I didn’t want to spend so much on something that wasn’t even 100% leather or any leather for that matter. This bag is HIGH QUALITY.
